Hello I am Taiki. I live in Japan.
Today, I will show you 5 rules in Japanese train.
1.Keep Quiet

In Japan, the train is basically considered a quiet place to spend time.
Therefore, conversations should be conducted in a low voice.
Talking on the phone is generally prohibited.
2.Know the Priority Seats

Japanese trains have seats marked as “Priority Seats” for elderly, pregnant women, and people with disabilities.
In priority seats, give up your seat when someone in need comes along.
You are a Gentleman if you can give it up to them even if it is not a priority seat.
3.How to hold luggage

During rush hours, carry your backpack in front of you or place it at your feet.
Carrying a backpack behind your back is a distraction to other passengers.
4.Eat and Drink

On local trains, it’s best not to eat —especially food with strong smells.
However, eating and drinking are allowed on long-distance express trains such as the Shinkansen.
5.Keep the order of boarding and alighting.

In Japan, riding in line is the norm.
Please line up and keep your turn in line.
Also, people get off first, so when boarding, wait until all the other people have got off before getting on.
Summary
Japanese people are very strict about train manners.
Follow the rules and make your trip comfortable!
